Senior Life in Wisconsin
Wisconsin has a higher than national average of residents who are over the age of 65. Currently, 13% of Wisconsin residents are seniors. The US average is 12.4%. Currently there are almost 722,000 seniors in Wisconsin. This number will most certainly rise in the coming years, as well as the need for assisted living and long term care in Wisconsin.
Economy:
Wisconsin's biggest employers are in the government, manufacturing, and healthcare industries. Though renowned for its agriculture (particularly its dairy industry which is the nation's second biggest,) Wisconsin has long been a leading manufacturer of processed foods, beer, transportation equipment and heavy machinery. Most of the commerce in the state takes place in cities, where nearly 70 percent of Wisconsinites reside. The states biggest natural resource export is lumber—40 percent of the state is covered in dense forests.
Noteworthy:
Wisconsin's 7,446 rivers and streams combine to stretch nearly 28,000 miles, enough to circle the equator. |
