Oregon is the United States' most prolific lumber producer, with more than 30 million acres of timber forests—it's no wonder that the state's paper products industry is one of its strongest manufacturing assets. Oregon is also a leading producer of greenhouse products, wheat, livestock and dairy products and its fishing industry (particularly salmon) is among the nation's biggest. The state gets much of its energy from an abundance of hydroelectric dams.

Oregon's reputation as a wine producer has been growing steadily since the 1970s and today it's the country's third leading wine state, with a reputation for producing some of the world's top Pinot Noirs.
