Senior Life in Ohio
Ohio has a higher than national average of residents who are over the age of 65. Currently, 13.3 % of Ohio residents are seniors. The US average is 12.4%. There are currently over 1,528,000 seniors in Ohio. This number will most certainly rise in the coming years, as well as the need for assisted living and long term care in Ohio.
Economy:
At the beginning of the 1960’s Ohio was one of the leading industrial centers in the country, producing iron, steel, copper and automobile parts. But the end of the American manufacturing boom led to a severe economic decline in Ohio and other states in the so-called “Rust Belt.” Today, Ohio is still mostly a manufacturing state but white collar jobs have been on the rise for the past two decades. The state is considered one of the best corporate climates in the country and is home to major corporations like Proctor & Gamble, Goodyear, and Firestone.
Noteworthy:
The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are both in northeast Ohio. |
