Senior Life in New Hampshire

New Hampshire has a slightly lower than national average of residents who are over the age of 65. Currently, 12.3 % of New Hampshire residents are seniors. The US average is 12.4%. However, there are currently, there are almost 162,000 seniors in New Hampshire. This number will most certainly rise in the coming years, as well as the need for assisted living and long term care in New Hampshire.

Economy:

New Hampshire's biggest employers are government (including health, education and general services,) and manufacturing. The state has benefitted from a migration of high-tech, and electrical machinery manufacturing firms from its neighbors, who tend to have significantly higher corporate tax rates. Its small agricultural sector specializes in dairy, apples, cattle and nursery stock. Along with its neighbor Vermont, New Hampshire is also regionally famous for its bed and breakfasts, which draw a substantial number of tourists each year.
