Minneapolis is Minnesota’s largest city, and with its “twin” city of Saint Paul is the center of the largest metro area in the north central part of the nation. Minneapolis got its start as a lumber milling city during the early exploration of the Northwest Territory. Legend has that the city’s 16 lakes were formed by Paul Bunyan's footprints. Today the city today has become a hub of high technology. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul area ranks among the country’s most livable, and is considered one of the country's best places to grow a business.
The Twin Cities boast an array of cultural attractions, being home to museums including the Minneapolis Institute of Arts; the Walker Art Center and sculpture garden; and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum (on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota). Tourists and vacationers are also drawn to the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Minnesota History Center, the St. Paul Childrens’ Museum, and the Minnesota zoo.
