Miami is Florida’s second-largest city and the seat of government in Miami-Dade County. The city is regarded as an international banking and finance center, partly because it is home to North America’s largest number of international and Edge Act banks (those that transact only foreign loans and deposits). The Miami metro’s economy is remarkably diversified, being home to many multinational and Fortune 500 companies. It is one of the country’s biotech leaders; the same is true of its health care sector. The greater Miami also part of the Computer Coast of Florida, hosting companies involved in computers and electrical engineering.
Miami is a major transportation hub, resort center, a major port for both cruises and cargo. Visitors are drawn to dazzling white sand beaches; the Vizcaya Villa, the Monastery of St. Bernard de Clairvaux (the Western Hemisphere’s oldest building); the romantic Coral Castle; the Miami's Seaquarium; Jungle Island; and the Miami Science Museum.
