Dallas anchors an energetic Texas region that encompasses its neighbor Fort Worth, which is less than 30 miles away. While the two cities and their surrounding areas form a so-called Metroplex, their identities are different. Dallas is a leader in industry, fashion, transportation, finance, and commerce. Fort Worth is know for its “wild west” history; farming and ranching industries, vibrant downtown, great museums, and a renowned zoo.
Dallas is regarded for its museums including the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Natural History, and Nasher Sculpture Center. Its cultural attractions include music, literature, and drama. In fact, the Dallas Theatre Center is the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed public theater in the U.S. Dallas’s downtown has been re-energized by the development of an “arts district” that includes the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, completed in 1989.
